District Lion of the Year

Contest dates: April 1, 2015 - March 31, 2016

The District Lion of the Year Award recognizes the Lion who has most distinguished himself/herself as an active and contributing Lion in the district and/or local club. Consideration will be given to achievements from April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016. The recipient will be honored by the District Governor at the District Convention.

  1. Nomination Requirements
    1. Club secretaries shall submit the names and qualifications of nominees by email or postal mail to the District Governor and the Cabinet Secretary.
    2. The nomination must be typed in 12-point type, not handwritten. Nominations should be kept to three (3) pages. It must address the judging criteria and give specifics, which show the strength of a club’s nominee.
    3. The nomination must be received by April 3, 2016.
    4. Only nominations which are typed and on time will be considered.
  2. Basic Eligibility of Nominees
    The nominee must meet the following requirements:
    1. Member in good standing in a District 4-L4 club for the prior 12 months.
    2. Current in his/her club obligations of attendance, dues and/or committee assignments.
    3. Not the Immediate Past District Governor or a previous District Lion of the Year or Life Time Achievement winner.
  3. Judging Panel
    1. The judging panel shall consist of:
      District Governor
      Vice District Governors (2)
      Cabinet Secretary
      Cabinet Treasurer
      Region Chairs (3)
      Public Relations Chair
    2. Judges shall not release their findings to any outside parties prior to the official announcement at the District Convention.
    3. Names of runners-up and relative standings will not be released.

      Exemplifies the Lions Motto "We Serve."
      Exemplifies outstanding leadership in the furtherance of Lionism.

      Membership development
      Attendance record
      Offices, other positions held
      Quality, success, impact of work
      Sincerity of purpose
